That's true I'm sure, but I was doing Chess Mentor, and it said that according to "modern theory" It's just worth 4.5 points instead of five.
But, can you mate a person with knights? I know you can place the pieces in a mating position, but can you force it?
what are better, the knights or the queens?
I was talking about in general. Depending the position, any piece can be useless.

I'm talking about king vs king and knights. No pawns. I will examine the three knights situation soon, and get back to you on that.
Three knights and king versus a lone king is a reasonably well-known "just for kicks" mate. Excluding the small number of starting positions which are already stalemate (I'm not sure if it's possible to set up a forced-stalemate initial position in this endgame...worth a thought), it's always possible to force a mate with the knights.
