Rules on Repetition here?

Sort:

Just finished a game against a higher ranked player, where I had a winning edge (2 pawns up & 5 min on clock to his 10 seconds). Rather than risking a blunder I did a little repetion, when suddenly the game was declared a draw. I was under the impression that a position had to be repeaded 3 times for this to occur. Am I mistaken, or is the rule different here?

It has, but mustn't be in a row.

The position is the same after Black's 32nd, 34th and 36th moves.

It is not a repetition but a position that has to be repeated three times for a draw. In addition, the repeats do not have to be consecutive - if the position occurs three separate times in the game separated by several moves, the players can still claim a draw.

Some salient analysis there, Doggy, wasn't considering the first position. Problem solved! Thanks for the feedback, guys.
