Ryzen or Intel?

I'm considering a upgrade of computer and not quite sure if a Ryzen 9 3900 or Intel i9-9900 is better for chess analysis with alpha-beta programs (such as Komodo,Stockfish)? Advice with this would be helpful. My understanding at the moment would put the Ryzen 9 3900 almost twice as fast as the Intel i9-9900, using the formula cores x clock speed. Does this sound about right? Are there other factors to be concern with?

Thank You, AJ

For price, I don't think you can beat a Ryzen right now.  Do any of the chess engines take advantage of your graphics card for calculation?

I bought this https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-zephyrus-g14-14-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-9-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-2060-max-q-1tb-ssd-moonlight-white/6403816.p?skuId=6403816

For a laptop think it does awesome and I also purchased Fritz 17 to check out the different anaylsis with the GPU.

Go for Ryzen 9 3900X. Your assumption is true it is faster. More cores is better for Stockfish.

The current AMD processor easily beat out Intel in terms of price per performance, so go for it.
