Sam Loyd as I Knew Him

Thanks, I enjoy reading historical chess trivia. I'm just old enough to remember reading in my youth about the old chess masters in books by authors like Fine, Chernin, Reinfeld, Horowitz, and Evans.
Here are some of the things I learned from the Chess Review articles above:
Hey, I'm just like Tchigorin -- I've also had trouble deciding what to play against 1.d4, and yet I don't use it myself as white.
And I'm like Napier in that my best games are the ones I lost (or in other words, I play better when I'm losing).
Aha! The secret to beating world-class chessplayers like Lasker and Capablanca is to sacrifice my queen. Someone drive me to the World Open and sign me up for the top section!
