$8 for 100 points your a joker
Searching for a 1900+ chess coach!
I don't know what the price should be :/
I guess i'll find out with the eventual coach :)
What price would you recommend?
Just a quick word of advice: don't be focused on the numbers. Be focused on learning and improving overall as a player and the numbers will come; but if all you want is rating then you won't get half as far.
Yes, I play because I enjoy the game. The ratings are just for measuring my advances, that's what they're made for :)

suppose it takes you 3-4months to go up 100pts...
and also assume that every month is exactly 4 weeks, then:
4x3=12 weeks
12x2=24 hours
8/24= an hourly coaching rate of $0.33
now since you are from denmark I'm going right ahead and assume that by $ you mean €.
exchange rate: 1€ = 0.876(£)
0.876/0.33= 0.28
so, by helping you I stand to earn 28p per hour (a loaf of bread is about £1.15) not exactly great pay is it?
moreover, I have no garentee that I'd earn anything at all since my pay would be based on your performance!
You might find someone interested in your offer, but they will be interested simply because the love to teach, that or they completely failed to do the maths!
good luck.
I rose from practically nothing to 1300+ in three weeks. I asked for a good advice on price.
When I read your posts, I get the thought I should propably aim for some Indian chess player. Or maybe just quit getting a coach, investing the money in books and software.
How did you guys get your 2000+ ratings? I would really like to know how, and how long it took you. Any specific software? Books?
I have Arena with Rybka, Chessmaster software, and My System by Aron Nimzowitsch (for 1800+ players).
I just want to know if you study master games, or just play, what is the most efficient over-all method of increasing ones skill?
Indian Chess coaches charge about $16 for an hour of playing with student players. And that's if you can actually get to India; from Denmark, an Indian coach would probably cost about double that.
I'm sorry, but no-one in the world will help you for $0.16 per hour - that's just ridiculous. You're looking at 100-200 times the price you're estimating.

There is no overall method to improve your game the main way is tuning your mind to actually be able to visualize properly and avoiding tactical mistakes.
Suggestion:
take the tarrasch's and lasker/capa/steinitz set of rules (They are the most common and most basic) i dont suggest studying nimzowitsch now as he shows where and how to know when to break these rules. when you get used to the tarrasch rules start studying nimzowitsch it'll take some time to get nimzo. Then choose a style and don't give it up even if you lose many games just play the way you enjoy you'll learn wats rong soon and hone your instincts automatically
Thanks Charan!
I'll try and do that. Any of you 2000+ rated players that wants to grab a game meanwhile?

Let's see, if I can get you from 1300 to 2300 in one long 10 hour day, I'll make 80 dollars: WOOT. 80 dollars -- in a day! Wow! Hmmm, wait, actually I can make a lot more than that doing non-impossible things. Hmmm...
Well, Chess.com is also for having the enjoyment of playing each other. The eight dollars should just be as a kind gesture :)
I have resolved the matter now anyways, so if any of you want to have a 10 or 15 minute game sometime, leave a post or a note! I'd be happy too.
Oh -and don't slaughter me for asking, we all want to improve our game. Right?

If you are not able to offer a significant amount of money, better don't offer any, ask for volunteer coaches. I think you might find some reasonably strong players who will give you a few lessons for free.

Instead of paying for so little for a coach why not spend it on a memebrship here. Chess mentor is good, you'll get the video lessons which I like, you'll have unlimited tactics, and unlimited games explorer which really helped me learn openings. You'll also be able to analyze all your games with the computer. Just an idea.

Will you give me a couple of voluntary lessons?

I have thought about buying a premium membership around here, I'll propably do in one of the coming days. Thanks for your reply!

Hello. I would second the idea of getting a membership here. Try a one month diamond membership ($12.99USD). Look into the Chess Mentor, video lessons, tactics trainer, and computer workout. Spend the energy you have to really explore and use the tools that this site offers. After your one month, you should have a good idea if you would care to continue or not. And, after that one month, I am sure you will have an even better grasp of things and may even discover which areas you would like to concentrate future learning on!
I wish you success in your learning, and fun in your chess!
Cordially,
William
Hello!
I am looking out for a 1900+ rated player that can raise my rating from the current 1301, to 1900! I am willing to pay for coaching, 8$ for every 100 ELO points. Of course, the salary will get higher once we get above the 1600s.
I have played for about three weeks seriously, I learn quick, and I devote a lot of time to chess. I just need advises on how to study, practice, and some tips on openings and so on, + at least four 15 minutes games per week.
Total work will be two hours every week.
So, yeah, I know that there's a section for chess coaches on this website, but I recall seeing titled players there, they are propably too pricy for me.
That's pretty much it! Leave a post if you want the coaching thing. The salary will be paid trough PayPal everytime I reach a new 100 ELO points on chess.com! :)
Thanks in advance
