Secondary Chess skills?

I dont think one should understimate physical fitness. It makes sense. Better stamina; more oxygen for the brain. And I think I remember that Fisher did a lot of workout in his early days, Carlsen sure does.
(hmm, come to think about it maybe that is why I am so lousy at chess...)

I'm no expert, but as a strong beginner, I've already noticed these skills have certainly come into factor: analysis, visualization, calculation and planning.

never mind; didn't realize by secondary your meant "non-chess"; actually Sun-Tzu is not a bad idea- some of his tactics would actually apply quite well
So, I recently decided to take my chess studies seriously. I have already rummaged thru the forums here and gathered the most highly regarded books to start my journey.
What I'd like to know is this: What secondary skills/attributes would best support my understanding of chess?
So far, I have identified three areas: general learning process(how to learn), logic, and creative thinking.
Are there other areas you wise folk might suggest?
