Seek setting effects ELO rise !

Found a link between challenge/seek setting & and ELO fluctuation. Almost since the beginning here at chess.com: in a kind of cocky mood when designing my challenges; I sat my seek setting at anywhere from 100 points below me to 400 points higher than me. I was thinking I'd thrive there.

Wrong; I stagnated there. Up & down; back & forth; I fluctuated.

if anything, my ELO was going down more than up. i couldn't even maintain my current position.

then, I changed my seek settings to more modest levels.

I decided no lower than 25 points below & no more than 100 above. My ELO over night was off to the races. Good news is It is still climbing.

If your settings are too high like mine, you should try lowering the seek settings.

Nobody on chess.com has a genuine ELO rating, chess.com run there own similar system which is far from accurate in comparison to Fide which is where official ELO ratings are registered, only listed people with official ELO ratings are listed such as G.Ms or I.Ms who earned there ratings through Fide

Wow; really? I'm so deflated. I really thought I was something. I've only been playing the game for 55 years or so, I'm still learning the ins and outs of it all.

I'm hoping someday to play the perfect game and finally be graduated to a lofty height in fide such as you. I may even someday out in the future; after playing another 100,000 games; over the next 50 years; I'll then be able to comment om a novice post and sound like I'm the know it all / end all of chess.com.

thx for the tip.

I truthfully was only discussing this system and how it behaves.... not a fide rating!!!
