Seriously? What is the point is putting 13 moves tactics (26 ply deep) with 3800 rating???

This is thick and sick, does chess.com expect that we are stockfish???

Currently 0.1% pass rate??

And later people will repeat solve this puzzle and pass rate will go 30%- 50%.

And the target time is 3:00??

No human on earth can see 26 ply (13 moves ) in 3 min (without memorizing or guessing the answer)

I get 4/13 right only. sad.png

The point of such an exercise is to generate a forum post about it.  And you willingly helped the developers achieve their objective.  evil.png

The first move is rather obvious....should be easy to complete.

Qf3 seems to win, Kc8 Ng4. I don't see what white's best defense is.

I am guessing Qf3 Rd8+ Rxd8 Qxd8+ Bf8 Kf1 Ng4 Qb6 Nxh2+ Ke1, that is a pretty forcing line.

I made it through the first 6 moves, though I did not calculate that far, just move by move, seeing what looked best to me (i.e. shallow calculation).

But puzzles get their rating based on pass/fails, so apparently enough higher rated players failed it to get it up to that level.

lfPatriotGames

It's to give the people who have tactic ratings above 5,000 at least somewhat of a challenge. I struggle with 2500 rated puzzles. This kind of puzzle I would just guess wrong and be over with it.

I solved the puzzle but it took me about 5 minutes. I didn't guess any moves or get any of the moves wrong along the way. It was by no means impossible imho. The puzzle is relatively new so I'm sure the rating will go down once more people attempt it. I'm sure Titled players could easily solve this as well. Hikaru could probably solve this in under 3 minutes for example.

It’s not for average mortals. It’s 3800 for a reason. Duh.

Boogalicious

Ya, well, Stockfish needs to practise as well. Even more so now Leela's on the scene. This was probably one of Leela's compositions.

Lord_Hammer

BS, I know.

Yeah, honestly that doesn't look like a puzzle to complain about. There are study-like positions with multiple double exclaim moves that, like you said, people just memorize.

But this one just involved keeping the initiative going. Keep making threats that are awkward to defend. You're not supposed to calculate it to the end from the start. Not in a real game either.

I had the same puzzle this morning, I got 3 moves right which gave me a +1, when I clicked on the solution button and it started rattling off the 13 moves I found it ridiculous.

TuoKaerf

Chess.com is always adding new puzzles and they're adding these to make puzzle rush harder for those getting 60+. At least that is my guess.
