There used to be a setting for limiting opponents to those who have played a minimum number of games (50, for example) to get rid of those so-called 1200 players who have zero games played, and in reality could be anything from an 800 newbie to a 2400, and everything in between. And I would use it so that I wouldn't get that "no contest" easy win, or get "crushed" by a guy who I have no business playing. Once I got over 1250, I thought I had the answer, since you can at least set live chess to a MIN/MAX, and the minimum is a player -500 your rating max. But it still doesn't work. This morning I got another of those "zero game, 1200" opponents, despite having my MIN/MAX at -15 on BOTH incoming and outgoing challenges.
What's the point of the setting if it doesn't work? And why did the "minimum number of games by an opponent" setting go away? Are both of these part of the "new and improved" chess.com?
