Sexism in Chess ...

The vast majority of heterosexual men are perfectly capable of reigning in their outward behavior IF THEY CHOOSE to. Yes, men think of sex 24/7. It doesn't mean they have to leer or constantly tell raunchy jokes or make sexual statements about every woman they find alluring that they come in contact with.

I also think that Chesslife magazine seems to sexualize female chess players. They choose the ones that look close to "sexual ideals" and dress them in skimpy dresses with plunging necklines with "sexy" poses. Would they dress up male chess players in equally provocative clothing and poses? I think not...

I might click on a game in Chessbase but not on purpose.  Information is information no matter who is at the board and there's always something to learn.

I just unearthed this a decade later, but would like to add that in 2006, a study by Christopher Chabris and Mark Glickman found that the main reason that women to not play at the competitive level as men in chess is because there are simply less women in chess. They also found that whichever gender a club has more of will typically perform better in competitive play. Personally I believe there are less women in chess due to sexism. The study did seem to find that women were as likely as men to drop out of chess clubs, but I do believe that the gender divide has limited the quality of competition that women can face, and historically women have faced backlash for crossing the gender divide of tournaments (this is not true anymore, but the stigma has been set that you're breaking culture).

tl;dr: women are only worse at chess if there are not enough women in chess

Women: "I don't think I'd like to play with someone who sees my worse than subhuman..."

Men, again: "SEE? THERE AREN'T AS MANY WOMEN IN CHESS AS THERE COULD BE!! THIS IS PROOF THEY ARE WEAKER AND STUPIDER THAN US, THE GENDER THAT CURRENTLY HAS THE WORST GRADES, EVEN IF WE'VE HAD A HISTORICAL ADVANTAGE IN EDUCATION AND CONTINUE TO DO SO!!!"

I feel like someone who responds without reading the comment don't deserve a response, however would like to point out that this statement directly contradicts the science. You might as well say that the moonlanding is fake, the earth is flat, and that COVID was a hoax.

It's almost as if being forcefully married off, constantly impregnated, barred from higher education, and legally considered subhuman, could cause someone to not be able to thrive in the sciences 🤔. It's also almost as if having a house slave for most of your adult life, having rights as a citizen, having access to higher education, and also the possibility of stealing the alleged subhuman's works without any consequences (re: Albert Einstein v. Mileva Maric), could give someone a greater advantage when it comes to thriving in the sciences 🤔.

Is that satire?

I rather suspect that most guys playing females in chess simply see them as obstacles to be removed. They have no other importance. The days of women being valued sexually are waning... which means they have less value and are of less interest to men than ever before in history. To impute your fantasies is self-serving delusion. You appear to WANT to be wanted for "degrading sex " and as an "object for my own gratification". Perhaps that's because outside of that, you have no value to men. In short, if women get what they say they want, they find they don't want it.

Go out on a date with a feminist and tell them you're splitting the check... see how long she wants to remain "equal".

I've seen plenty of interviews with women on the street where they're asked, "What does a man have to have to capture your attention?" They usually reply with things like "six-foot", "good-looking", "makes $200,000 to $10 million a year". When asked what they bring to a relationship, they appear stumped, offering, "I bring ME".

There is Sexism but it isn’t in the game it’s in the players.

I was making fun of women who can't do anything as well as men, yet somehow think they are "equal". Without the forbearance and tolerance of Western men, you'd be wearing a burqa, staying at home unless accompanied by a male relative, speaking only when spoken to, and would be stoned in the public square for any transgression that reflected poorly on your family. I don't know about Argentina, but in America, everything women have was given to them by men - including the right to make foolish comments.

Sorry for entering the debate, but women mature faster than men. They also prove to be far more caring and understanding than men. There are many instances in history where men will carry grudges down from their fathers even though there is no reason to, and it is usually women for cross those gaps to get peace again. There is one thing men do better than women and that is killing people without conscience. Also causing arguments based on their prejudices, my example: you.
