I agree that it's stupid if the opening name specifically mentions ''trap'' (alerting people that they probably should be careful), but other than that I don't see any problems with it.

no openings say trap. but words like gambit can influence moves and even games.

it can influence moves thus influencing the results of games i've explained this earlier.

I know that you explained it.  I just don't agree that it's significant.  Most players have seen these openings before and have decided how they're going to play them.  Maybe a handful will be influenced by the word gambit (assuming that they bother to look), but I doubt that it affects the game's outcome.

Surely, you jest.

You don't need to be a genius to see somebody is sacrificing a pawn.. On a positive note it shows users how a game is annotated and might spark an interest in a certain opening

Jusst to keep the online chess as much like otb chess as possible they should not announce the name of the opening.

what do you mean by jest. they wouldn't have heard of it. whenever i play bullet they always take on c4 because they don't have time to read the opening.

The purpose of any site is to earn money, this is often accomplished by satisfying people's narcissism: the average patzer feels a tiny bit better about his game if its opening has a name although the correct one would be "random meaningless moves".

this site is for people who want to play and improve in chess. this makes the site even more bad in the opening name regard.

This site wants people to improve as little as possible, otherwise slower time controls would be played reducing their ad revenue. It's only business.

people have the option to play what they want. i'd stick to rapid and if it get's riddled with cheaters then i'll only do unrated games. some people are different. i don't like what the sites doing with the openings being shown but that's it really. i think removing it won't do anything in terms of income just make things more convenient.

You're a little inconsistent.  Your original post was complaining that because they know the name of the opening, they don't take on c4.  Anyhow, if they don't have time to read the opening, how does being given the name of the opening influence their move?

here i mention BULLET time rules while in my original post i was talking about BLITZ. in blitz they have time to read in bullet people don't.

So, if they don't have time to read, Chess.com's providing the name of the opening shouldn't influence their move.

It's a good feature.
Aren't we trying to improve as chess players here?
