Should I be discouraged from trying to get into chess

I always found myself being ridiculously bad at chess and never being able to beat my family members in it however I recently have become determined to get better. I studied different forms of strategy and theory and got better and managed to start consistently beating family members, however games would take around 45+ minutes. I try 10 minute blitz on here and I do decent until about halfway through my time and then start making mistakes constantly... My blitz rating is so embarrassing and is incredibly discouraging, making me feel so incredibly stupid at the mistakes I would make and don't know if I should continue trying to better myself at chess because a rank of 600 in blitz is something I feel would be scoffed at... Should I just stop or does anybody have any recommendations at how I can get better at blitz or maybe share any personal stories of how you bettered yourself in blitz... Thank you so much for any help in advance!

Don't worry there will always be ppl noober than u. That is how I managed to go from rating 900 to 1500. Whenever u look at ur dismal rating, just remind urself that.

"..., you have to make a decision: have tons of fun playing blitz (without learning much), or be serious and play with longer time controls so you can actually think.
One isn't better than another. Having fun playing bullet is great stuff, while 3-0 and 5-0 are also ways to get your pulse pounding and blood pressure leaping off the charts. But will you become a good player? Most likely not.
Of course, you can do both (long and fast games), ..." - IM Jeremy Silman (June 9, 2016)

Fortunately chess is just a hobby... so no matter how terrible you are at it... as long as you enjoy it... keep on playing.

Take your time and start with slower games like 30-0 or 15-10. You should get some experience on them first. You'll make less blunders as you have more time to think. By playing many times with different opponents, you'll somehow get used to your opponent's openings and threats and stuff and get able to react to them better. This is how I improved my blitz ranking...when my opponent plays a move I instantly knew what he was trying to do and how to react to it. This can save you a lot of time... Also (maybe you already know this) go to your recent games and analyze them. Chess.com tells you the mistakes you made during your game and how to make a better move. Hope this helped.. :)

Well despite my taste for spicy chicken, I agree with those who say slow it down for now.

If you REALLY don't want to do that (and you should), then at least try 5+5. A typical game will be shorter, but the increment may allow you to handle the pressure of the clock better.

Also, if you aren't already, start doing tactics (which it looks like you are doing) and puzzle rush (which it looks like you aren't). You don't have to do oodles of it. Since you aren't a paid account, do the 5 a day tactics you are allowed, and the one puzzle rush a day.

And since you apparently know what a Hyperfine transition is, you are probably reasonable intelligent. Just be aware (as you are finding out), that doesn't automatically make you good at chess.
