Should I be proud for reaching over 1200 elo? Many people thrive easily in the beginners stage, till then they reach 1200, the intermediate stage. Some people manage to get higher and some might get stuck.(Correct me if I'm wrong) Should I be proud for reaching over 1200 elo? Or is normal?

If you feel proud of it, then feel proud of it and don't care about what others said about it, though for myself, rating 1200 is only starting point and nothing to feel proud of.

Noone here should decide whatever be proud or feel bad. It is your personal goal, judge by yourself. Only your vaules should decide the outcome

People complain about getting "stuck" at all ratings.

And rapid 1200 is already high above average, which is around 600 for rapid.

Unless you are very young and have prospect of becoming a IM or GM, rating really is really nothing but deciding what opponents you will face.

P.s.: Except it turns out you are already over 1500 rapid, so I dont get why you started this topic.

In my experience, 700 elo is just as impressive to the novices/informal chess players as it is unimpressive to the experienced (a.k.a. the "experts").

It depends on how you look at it. The amount of rating you are from he highest, or how far you've come from the start

First, take Chess out of the question and determine if pride is a good thing. Generally, in the modern Western world, taking pride in your work is considered a virtue but being proud of yourself is not.

Yeah! 1200 is definitely a milestone imo.

Of course you should be proud. 1200 is no mean feat. If you are new to the game.
Staying there for a hundred games is also a challenge and (if I may dare) more of a feat to be proud of.
Does not matter what level you are, getting to the next hundred above is always a challenge.
Believe me, I know.

If you are just starting chess Of course you should be proud but if you are a advanced player, it's just a small feat.
