Should i get a platinum membership?

I have been playing chess for almost 9 months and I spend a lot of time every day watching videos on YT, live streaming and playing chess in general, mainly 3 + 2: I really like it. I want to improve but at the same time I am not looking for something that prepares me for tough competition: I look for a way to better understand the game, how to create complications, how to create plans, how to attack etc. , things not to learn "casually". So I figured that for less than $ 50 I can have unlimited tactics and problems rush (I could have them for free on another site, but on chess.com they are better, however that's not the big deal) and have more lessons than I can probably look at. Keep in mind that I am a beginner (not so much so that I have no idea how to play) who wants to improve in speed and calculation skills with the aim of perhaps reaching a comfortable level of skill to play in the future in a small tournament or in a club of chess

Hi,

It really depends on which features of chess.com you really want to use. At your rating, I believe you're right that tactics and lessons are the most useful, and therefore I would say the platinum membership is a good investment. As you become stronger, you may find that tactical practice may not be as important as it was before; perhaps then a gold membership would suffice, which gives you access to the all important opening explorer. Also, keep in mind that a gold membership does give you 25 puzzles a day and 5 rushes per day, if that's enough for how much you are practicing then perhaps Gold may be the way to go as well. It's really up to you

Hope this helps

Yep, at around 1000 rating definitely go for unlimited puzzles if you're passionate about improving your tactics.

It's amazing that chess.com offers free diamond memberships to titled players, but if this offer didn't exist I would be more than satisfied with a gold membership. I would say when you reach around 2000+, the opening explorer and analysis tool is more than you'll ever need to self study your way to further improvement.

Since you are a beginner, I think platinum membership will be perfect for you.
