Sleep serves the purpose to consolidate memories. If you want to improve at chess, devote time during your day for deliberate practice, and get a good nights sleep. No need to do your deliberate practice right before you fall asleep, unless that is your preferred time to practice. Rehearsing information is great for memory, but just focus on going to sleep when it is sleep time.
