Should the site account for ELO deflation?

I have been on chess.com for almost 7 years now. Over the past year or two I feel that the ELO rating has “deflated”. Meaning that a player that was rated 700 now is much stronger than a 700 rated player 2 years ago. Should chess.com adjust ELO so that one can accurately track their progression in the long term?

Yes it should!

Rating is just a way to get comparable pairings.
Chess.com rating is like +100 inflated relative to FIDE rating.
If there should be a correction, then downward instead of upward.

The problem is that the rapid growth in new players shifts the overall distribution of the ratings lower and makes it harder to gain rating points at lower levels. Chess.com should follow FIDE in adjusting for this effect
