Should this be a draw?

Why under promoting to Bishop? Just curious.

Lol I didn't realise that both bishops were on the same diagonal and it's lot of fun to checkmate with 2 bishops so I underpromoted

Sounds like really bad sportsmanship. You just wanted to rub tour opponent's face in it. Not cool at all. Glad karma got you.

i was versing a robot brother, i would never do that to a human wink

Yes it would have been good practice to do that. Pity it went wrong because you didn't get the practice.

They finally corrected the outcome. I am aware of one old game in which a similar endgame ended in a win for the side having two bishops on the same coloured square (nothing else than the two bishops and the two kings on the board).

When it is KBB of the same color vs K, the K will always have a escape square to move to. Your memory is not clear.

.

Duh, of course we players know that two bishops, residing on the same colour square, are never progressing and it's a draw. However, I'm sure my memory is very clear! Here's the very game I was mentioning.

Back then, it was a "win". Yes, believe it or not, it was declared a win by Chess.com.

.

Now, they finally corrected the outcome to declare such games a draw. I'm never getting my "Chess.com win" anymore if I were to ever promote a bishop to the same colour square!

The engines assessment is not faulty. It is evaluating your last move to promote to a same-color bishop as a mistake. The correct line it is refering to in saying that white had winning chances was if the pawn was promoted to Q. It is considering your last decision to under promote not the pieces on the board after the under promotion.

When I looked at it myself I think it was +8.3 for the side with the two bishops! Since the position is actually 0.0, the assessment is faulty. The engine does not evaluate a position by deleting your last move and substituting a better one, you daft 'apeth. That's certainly a bold blunder, to think that.

On my end it was +8.70 when I checked it a day ago, but I presume at that point that the computer was assessing only the material present on the board rather than the actual winning chances.
