Should you play before tournament or take a break?

is it more advantageous to prioritize rest and relaxation before a tournament to enhance mental clarity and focus, or should players opt for intensive practice sessions to sharpen their skills and strategies for optimal performance?

Like trying to cram-study before an exam? I don’t. I try to relax, and to get my mind in a calm place. I stop my study/reviewing the day before, and try to get a good night’s sleep. And then the day of the tournament, my hope is to go in fresh. These are OTB tournaments I’m talking about. Are you talking OTB or online stuff?

Adequate rest is crucial for mental clarity and focus. Ensure you get a good night's sleep in the days leading up to the tournament.

Practice what is going to be relevant for the tournament and get a lot of sleep.
