Off topic, but I just graduated high school! Only about 10 more years of school left... Undecided

You gotta like poor sports who sweep the pieces clean off the board, or better yet, flip the whole table!  Also some of my opponents have been known to leap in front of trains or from tall windows to their demise.

My Lord. It is very interesting that you should bring this up. Even though I never witnessed it, a friend of mine told me that *Name removed* used to have that kind of sportsmanship. I knew the guy, too...I played him in the club 2 years ago as White, he plays the Dutch Defence. That was our only game...I blundered and he won so I was unable to catch any odd behavior on his part. No. There was no disorderly conduct on my part.

Thanks for sharing the vid! I was hoping it would have been a little more dramatic for entertainment purposes.

That was actually a surprise. I totally thought it was going to be the other guy.

Don't feel too bad about having that much school left, college is a hell of a lot more fun than high school. Congrats on your graduation!

I second that! Congrats. And college is WAY better than high school. The classes. The people. The professors. Campus life. etc. Smile

Plus, my second year of college is when I started a chess club on campus. hehehe. Small but meaningful still.

In other words, do some kind of an assessment of what degree you'll be getting, what kind of earnings you can expect, etc. Be realistic. Don't get a degree in Art History with 40k in loans when you graduate. But 40k in loans with an EECS degree and you're probably okay.

What bugs me about college is that (for those unlucky ones who pay it themselves) is that after graduation they become a slave to that loan, which will follow them to teir grave! It took me 4 years to pay off a $15,000 loan, and thank god I will never do that again.

Sure, if the loan could be paid off like that then great! But can you imagine what my loan amount would have been if I didn't drop out?

So the bottom line is, college is for people who have been award scholarships and free tuition. Trust me, you don't want to go to college if you're the one stuck with the bill. It's like a really bad marriage you want to divorce but you can't because it's a ball and chain, you run, but you can't, she's got her grip so tight on you that you can't move!

True. Student debt and cost of tuition is quite the ongoing crisis in America. Undecided

Yeah. And speaking of school, Ed hates it when I record the games, so how am I supposed to learn anything from the games we play? Ahh well.

Who hates someone recording a chess game? Unless by recording you mean that you have a movie crew filming your chess games? lol

I'm in Canada, so the tuition is only around $20,000 for the first four years. I'm living at home for the first few, and got a $24,000 scholarship! So I'm covered for the first few years. Almost everyone in my year is freaking out about the money though, and I can see where they're coming from.

I played this lady here (a friend) who was putting our games on Facebook without me knowing of it, I found all this out later when I played her boyfriend (an ex when this happened).  She recorded and posted names and everything.

I didn't mind, but it would have been nice to be asked since she posted my name and all, oh well.

Yeah I didn't say anything about her posting it, but her ex was pissed at her (not for posting our games, but at her in general) and he told me things about her that was not law abiding.

That sounds exactly like what my marriage was like.

I was going to say earlier, maybe it was some weird revenge on her ex... by recording chess games...

.....

weird. lol!

Perhaps he should have been more discreet, rather than act out on emotion.

Yes but I wonder how much of it is true, him being her ex at the time.

It was weird, and I notice she is still here but he closed his account (for some reason).

The Fault In Our Stars is a great movie. Just throwing that out there. Smile Cried so many times but it was still uplifting.
