A two handed sword? Compared to a one handed sword?
Stuff Non-Chess Players Say

Forget wiki. Just ask me.
One-handed swords were about 38"-40" in length and wielded with one hand. The two-handed swords (around 48") were commonly called war swords or "great swords" and were considerably longer and used without a shield, since it took two hands to use it. There was another sword that was in between the two call a hand-and-half sword; the hilt provided enough room for one and a half hands for gripping. It could be used either with one hand or, if needed, two hands.

In my defense I DID try to play D&D but my group was not very good and never met up sooooooo there! But that's cool about one handed and two handed swords. I feel much more informed now.

I'm gonna go to Panera tomorrow to play chess. Thank you Decemeber TwentyNine for sharing that awesome idea. I will post a pic for proof ;D I stopped by today just to confirm with an employee that it was ok to do that. I know it's ok but I never like getting in trouble. I bought a double fudge brownie while I was there and I feel like I don't need to eat another dessert for a month. That thing was INTENSE. Imagine like 15 bars of chocolate melted into a rectangle. lol

Ohh café club, nice! I was thinking of just going by myself (; On second thought I placed an order for the set below and then I'll be ready to go play "in public." We have these for Chess Club but I never actually bought one for myself!
I wish I could meet up and play chess with each of you :( Also, there should be a CHESS CON, like they have vidcon, comic con, etc. etc. Us chess players should meet up and have fun together! >___>

Look what I found in Saturday's paper. heh.
I like the cartoon.
fyi - A vintage Boba in mint condition (C9 - C10) = $$$$.

^I had a cool looped track for my hot wheels when I was little. I might have played with it once or twice...
Fashion meets chess?! I was flipping through Wall Street Journal's fashion magazine and I found the pics online. It was in the March 2014 issue so fairly recently. (Too bad I don't like the jewelry but the idea of chess is nice) If I may share a link too:

It says (and I'll try not to laugh while I type this) "Check Mates: Spring's Dramatic Jewelry. Win a tournament in any one of these dramatic pieces..." Well I think the only thing dramatic about it all is that claim!
And not to completely ridicule WSJ... they had a nice interview with Carlsen and his parents, June 2014. (What is it with WSJ and chess? lol) I did not see this published but perhaps it was. I spotted this story online. http://online.wsj.com/articles/the-parents-of-magnus-carlsen-on-raising-the-worlds-best-chess-player-1403807188

I am a guy who does not like jewelry, but I would like a black polo shirt with a gold embroidered Knight. That would be cool.

I agree the set is nice. Although I would like to see the Queen a bit more ornate; to set it apart more from the heads of the pawns.

I just noticed yesterday on my best chess set that my white queen has a chip on one of the ridges of her "reese's" crown sad day, it was.

It's the smallest little point missing from the crown but it makes such a difference D: Maybe I could just buy another identical queen, if I could find the same maker/company. I'm sounding more and more like a chess freak o_0 lol

hahaha, a cinnamon shaker! Not much different from those "artsy" chess sets I guess!
Nooooo I just lost 2 games on time. Games I was WINNING. No one's gonna want to play online chess with me if I keep losing on time.
Well, I dopped almost $30 buying the club chess set for myself. It was almost that much cause shipping is awfully expensive. I think I'm going to be fine with my chipped white queen. It gives it character!!!!
I agree, the board is nice. It would be better if the scrollwork around the outside was gold leaf. imo
