Hahaha akafett who said it was a picture book! xD Lol. I know it's actually fett but I like calling you akafett. And that's how I pronounce your name in my head anyway.

Speaking of action shots, my cat is REALLY into chess. Can't get him to stop talking about chess! Not! (Yes he is alive just really sleepy lol)

"There are books on chess???" Really????"

camberfoil

What? You mean, on chest? I LOVE chest! I could beat that Bob Fish dude any day...where does he live? I'd like to play him sometime! I held up for 4 whole moves against this complete chess nerd, who, like, must spend, like, all of his, like, time on, like, chess stuff, like. He must have had, like, no, like, life.

camberfoil

So yeah, I know a thing or two about chest.

What are you playing? Is that like Draughts? (True story, asked by group of Jamaicans)

How many moves can you see ahead?

I have a friend who can checkmate you in 4 moves!

Classic.

Chest, is, like, a sport, right?

akafett

Do you like quoting and then commenting on yourself, camber?

@ Dragon: I think your cat may resign before move one if he's not careful.

I just wanted to type the GM before my name...

but

You can be a GM for however long you want to be. Just type GM before your name.  (Disclaimer: doesn't show up on the board play.)

Also, I failed to show up at a practice with the player I'm teaching. She understood, and we're still meeting. So I'm no longer afraid of losing her, cause she's showed up at the club meeting every Monday and idividual practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Non-chesser promoted to...what was the term?

akafett

I think Wood-pusher is the term you are looking for. Or maybe Patzer. I am a GMP, btw. (Grand Master Patzer) Laughing

I played this girl (she was about 15 or 16) a few days ago at a chess club- she was clearly a beginner, but the funny thing is she thought all of her incorrect moves were correct and she argued with me for a long time.

(Girl "takes" my bishop with her knight by moving it to a square adjacent to the knight)

Me: You can't take my bishop that way. The knight has to land on the square the knight is on.

Girl: Yes I can!

Me: No, you can't. The knight can't take pieces by jumping over them.

Girl: Yes it can!

(We argue for a few more minutes before the game resumes)

(Later, she "takes" my queen by moving one of her pawns 3 squares forward over my queen)

Me: Pawns can't take that way. They can only take diagonally.

Girl: Yes they can!

(We argue more)

(On about move 7 of the game, I checkmate her)

Me (studying the board): I think that's checkmate. Yes, that's checkmate. Your king can't take the queen or move anywhere.

(Girl looks confused and moves her king to a square where it is still threatened by the queen)

Me: That's checkmate. I win. Good game. (I shake her hand and she still looks confused)

Later, the girl played one of her friends, and I had to correct them on some of their moves as they made moves such as moving their knights three squares forward. The game between me and the girl lasted about 15 minutes due to the arguing. It's funny how she thought pieces could take by "jumping over" other pieces; maybe she's used to checkers?
