@ Noreaster, post 117 : Chris, not so strange what they said, a rook is a black crow, and for example in Dutch the chess piece is called "toren", so "tower" because is looks like a castle, like in German "Turm", French "tour".
Anyway the handling is called "castling" !
A knight is a nobleman seated on a horse (chevalry), so also not strange, we in Holland call it a "paard", a horse, like in German "Springer", a jumping animal; the FRench call it a horseman, "cavalier"
