Sicilian Defense Is Always The Way

I am an amatuar (or beginner) in terms of chess skill. But i believe that the Sicilian defense is almost unbeatable. When you look at games like mine or games between masters, the Sicilian Defense is usually a very good opening choice. Here is one of my recent blitz games using this opening. (There are blunders, but hey, i'm not Magnus)

(I was Black) Here is the link for proof. gocapitals vrs. knidhan

Time and time again i win with the sicilian defense i love it.

It's not disputed that against e4, blacks best response is the Sicilian. It has the best winning percentages for black. However U can't just always start with c5.

So no it's not the BEST opening for black period. It's just the current best response to e4. I was playing sicilian for a while against e4, but the games are so boring, unless ur playing something unsound like the Dragon variation. I guess at this level its up to u if u want boring but higher chance of winning, or fun and lower chance of winning.

BORING?????

In my opinion, your chances of winning depend on your decisions. For example, you could start with a bad opening move, but who cares what the majority of master games turn out? You will win if you can outthink your opponent. I usually plan to do that as black with the sicilian defense. Chess isn't all books and all that nonsense.. Its the sport of trying to out think an out perform your opponent. Here is an example of a trap that can efy opening laws, yet that still can out smart black:

See what i mean? It all depends on your knowledge in chess. (Although that knowledge helps you decide the opening lol)

gocapitals

I meant Defy not efy

gocapitals

lol that was a joke i am just exaggerating to get my point across that i like using that opening.

gocapitals

ok

AmazingAryan

@gocapitals You got the trap wrong in your diagram, after 5.Nxe5 Black can just take the knight back..

gocapitals

LOL sorry ill fix it

gocapitals

Whatever it is close enough you get the point right?

gocapitals

It is white outsmarts black by tricking them into taking queen

Not a very good trap.  After 5.Nxe5 black responds 5...Nxe5 and black is up a piece and winning.

The Sicilian defense is not good. The move 1. c5 accomplishes nothing. It fails to develop a piece, fails to put a pawn in the center, and fails to open a bishop for development.
