I don't have a problem with the time control.
But why claim the win now when I could claim it whenever. I'm not intending to manipulate the ratings. I don't even care about my rating that much. I just don't see why my opponent doesn't make his move.

I guess taking a win on time just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
But if it's an unsociable way of resigning, then so be it. I'll claim the win on time.
Could you explain more about this person who lost his matches by walking out of the hall? I'm having a little trouble picturing/ understanding that.
So, I just claimed the win on time.
A pop-up window asks me - Are you sure you want to claim the win on time?
And a voice in the back of my head is screaming, "No. I want to finish it mano a mano."
But I won on time anyway.
And yes, for the record, by posting this I clearly sign myself up for the silly party.
I definitely don't want to be accused of taking myself too seriously.

I've got a game that's one move from checkmate. My opponent has timed out, but I don't feel like winning on time.
I'd kind of like the satisfaction of either a checkmate or my opponent's resignation.
I've put in the conditional moves so that after my opponent's next move, it's checkmate.
What makes it even sillier, is that I put in those conditional moves several moves ago.
And I know how conditional moves work. After you move, boom - the conditional move happens.
This was a game that had a one-move per day time limit.
What I found most strange as this game wound down was that my opponent would start making his move and then waiting almost a day before making his next move.
Now, his time is up. Yet I know he keeps coming back to the site because I see progress happening in his other games.
It's silly, but the way I see it, if he completely refuses to move I'll just wait until his rating raises way above mine or when I have a losing streak going and I'd like a win just to make myself feel better. And then I'll claim the win on time.
Right now I'm just waiting, playing other games and shaking my head.
