Smurfs ruining the site

Is anybody gonna start working on the ridiculous amount of smurfs ruining the game for lower elo games? It makes it virtually impossible to get to where you should be when you're palying 1500s at a 900 elo rating. Can someone idk maybe fix the smurfing situation? Shouldnt be hard to add a layer of protection like what overwatch and other games do. Kind of ridiculous for a multi-million dollar company

Its hard to tell the difference between a person stronger than a rating and actually playing at a lower rating level. Unless they're playing full strength in some games and playing a lot lower in others but a player that has streaky play will look very similar.

BerimboloBishop

thats a great claim, and I agree whole heartedly! Don't you think it would be more beneficial to implement some sort of smurf protection like other competitive games however? What is your honest opinion Martin?

HangingPiecesChomper

chess.com doesn't care about fair play here. otherwise they would have added phone number verification to new accounts ages ago.

BerimboloBishop

true, theres so much they can do, but I mean, if you feel like you suck youll buy their premium right? Lmao

I have doubts

Quite_Playable_1

Eat my shorts. No Smurf around here. Only Simpson.

Not everyone has a phone.

I don't.

Does that make me a cheater?

wrskipper

BerimboloBishop, you are a confirmed cheater. Stop complaining about a smurfing problem when you keep losing because you have to play normally. Since you've streamed everything, I would love to see you tell me why you're original account was banned for Fair Play.

BerimboloBishop

which one? go look at Rear-Naked_Rook, and tell me what it was banned for

wrskipper

@Heel-Hookin_Rook is your og account, the one you started streaming on before it got banned. I don't need to see one that you closed yourself after the fact.

HangingPiecesChomper

where's the proof that that's his account? wouldn't you need to know their ip addresses and only chess.com knows.

wrskipper

I watched him stream it on Twitch! And the accounts are similar, because he couldn't think of how to differentiate before this new one he's complaining on.

No it doesn't plenty of people get to 1000+ even with occasional smurfs or cheaters

Solution -just get better bro

FatRatScat

I don't understand these complaints: If a player is maintaining a 900 rating then on average they're playing at a 900 rating level. So what's the problem?

The second part of the statement is not derived from the first part of the statement in general.

I often see (almost every day, though I dont hunt for them deliberately) how some players "lose" dozens of games in a row between tournaments to get paired with lower rated players in tournaments and thus to win medals easily. They can maintain their rating at 900 points but playing at 1400 in fact

Maybe one day you will find your man

FatRatScat

@SixInchSamuri, you might have a point but the person was complaining about not being able to reach a higher rating. So you're talking about something else.
