I heard it was removed due to bugs/glitches and also to reduce spam because too many people were making useless spam posts saying 'pls friend me 🥺'.
People still do make such posts but yeah it has significantly reduced and it's honestly good that the achievement was removed, it's legit just a digital sticker of a butterfly on your profile and has zero value.

I was sending and accepting Friend Requests just to get the Social Butterfly achievement. But, so far, I haven't got any icon as such.
Why has chess.com disabled this achievement?
We (the users of chess.com) have a motivation to get friends just to complete their award book. I know that due to various glitches - that can occur due to the millions of users - multiple achievements have been disabled (a few of them I'd earned but then got deleted) but chess.com, please try to find some workaround such that people can get achievements without having the downside of glitches and bugs.
If anyone has any idea about this, please do comment on this forum post &/or blog titled "What happened to Social Butterfly?"
