Some of my pieces become locked?

Pretty new to chess. com. Why do various pieces sometimes become locked?
My queen was under attack. I had various options, but the best response would have been to attack my opponent's queen, forcing a hard decision. The rook I needed to move was locked. Unable to move at all. My queen was the only piece I was allowed to move but was restricted to only one particular square... a bad place that caused me to lose her and the game. A check was not an immediate concern.
My skill level is higher than beginner. I can win at the intermediate level where I can beat the bots about 35% of the time. I know I have a lot to learn but this situation has me completely puzzled and frustrated.
Could someone please school me on what is going on?

Do you have the game and move number as an example?
Are you by chance on Windows 11?
