Some People Say I Play Like Tal: Is this true?

I am aware that move 24 is a blunder. I have also analyzed in-depth the position and have concluded that white is either winning or has a perpetual check. The move you are looking for is 23...Kg7! Let us begin.

Pardon my seeming like I did not understand the position. Even during long time controls, I do not generally calculate. It is almost as if I can see every possibility occuring simultaneously and I always know exactly what to play. Sometimes I feel like I have a computer engine in place of my brain! I hope this analysis helps!

22. ...Rf7

loses on the spot to 23. Qxg5+ Kf8 - 24. Qd8+ Kg7 - 25. Rg3+ and mate in one

22. ...Qf7 and black has an easily winning game though.

also in your analysis, on move 30. ... Qd2+ is an easy win.

move 31. ... Rf5+, another easy win.

Your 'computer engine brain' seems a bit biased imo.

On a more positive note, your games are quite enjoyable to watch, keep it up!

This is true. They say I play like Tal.

ratedlowerthanyou

lol...

You play like someone with weak positional knowledge and bad tactics playing against the same.

yureesystem

No, you don't like Tal. Your game  W; Hungry Hungry vs. Ahmed Alekhine

 You miss a brilliant move 23.Bg8 { you can deliver mate on  h6 or h7}  23. Bg8! Rxg8 { 23...Bg7 24.Qh7 mate} 23.Qh6 mate.

@Yuree

I hardly think failing to find the most beautiful finish diaqualifies me from playing like Tal. Here's another one guys, hope you like.

oregonpatzer

You play like Tal if Tal had been a medium club player and not a GM/world champ.  Pro football scouts occasionally use the disparaging line "Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane."  The chess equivalent would be "Looks like Tal, plays like me."  You spoke of the players on chess.com being too weak to adequately illuminate your spectacular game, and you used the "quite the" formulation twice in your original post, which is annoying coming from a medium club player and simply bad writing, something I care about whether the author is showing humility or not.  How many masters have you beaten?  I didn't think so.

HungryHungry

I've beaten several masters over the board, actually. And one GM.

Tal was a very fine end game player and could also play excellent positional chess.

Completely correct, but Tal was possessed of a divine gift called God Sight. Basically, it gave his intuition incredible powers of calculation and also allowed him to predict in what lines his opponents would blunder. At his peak the God Sight allowed Tal to "see" something like 20 ply deep instantaneously. His intuition would evaluate certain lines from it. This is what allowed him to do what he did.

That is quite interesting. I always pride myself as a accurate calculator, i went from 1889 uscf to 2019 uscf on pure calculation. Attacking players like Morphy, Anderssen , Alekhine, Shirov, Marshall, Fischer, Kasparov and Tal are my favorite players, not the boring Carlsen type.

You are okay. To your credit you playing exciting and bold games, not the boring and waiting for your opponent to make mistakes.

HungryHungry
Here's another one for those who enjoy my games. I thought this one was quite the struggle.

Your USCF profile seems to disprove this statement, assuming that the name on your profile is actually you

null

HungryHungry

The name on my profile is fake. I wouldn't dream of putting my real name on my chess.com profile.

If Tal only played C class rated players, many of us might appear to play like Tal.

The longer I play chess, the more I see I play like a patzer than like a Tal.

Robotboyy

No, you do not play like Tal. Come play me, and you'll find out why when I wipe your ass all over the board.

On a serious note: all that you are doing is playing unsafe, sacrificial chess and your opponents are not defending/refuting correctly. You're 1600 now; once you get to around 1890 you'll see why your current style of chess will not work. In the mean time, keep sacrificing and having fun - some of these games that you have posted are very nice.

I sent you a friend request and will meet you on live. See you there!

... dude you guys are SO missing the point.

some might have thought this was a braggy boast of chess mastery.  I don't think so!  his point ofc was that in a few games he "foresaw" all the messy future moves of his opponent.  not cause he, looked for the opponents best moves...

but because he has "the gift"

am I wrong about you , HungryHungy?

I prominently play 3 minute chess. When I am in the mood or have the time to play 15 minutes, I'll let you know.

HungryHungry

A few more games for those who enjoy them.

Enjoy!

I can do 3 minutes, I have no problem with that.
