Somebody help

Well i set up a chess960 position in my arena3 GUI and then load it but it give only one move and than refuse to move. Please help i am newbei

What is arena3 GUI?

Hi Tin,

You might not be using the right engine. (Which engine were you trying to use?) To play a Chess960 game in Arena, the engine itself must also be capable of playing Chess960, and I think there are only two engines supplied with Arena 3.0 that can play Chess960: Hermann and Spike. (There are other Chess960 compatible engines that you can download and use in Arena, but you have to know which ones they are.)

So if you weren't using either Hermann or Spike, then that was the problem. So go ahead and load either Hermann or Spike in the GUI.

Now, you still need to configure the engine to play Chess960. So go into the engine configuration window and check the "UCI_Chess960" box. Now you should be able to play a Chess960 game with that engine.

Oh, and by the way, I'm sure that either engine will just tear you to shreds, because they play only at full strength. If you want a chance at beating a Chess960 engine, you'll have to download another engine like either Hamsters or Ufim, and set it to play at a weak level.
