Each person has a time limit (obviously both people have the sameamount of time to start with), but the time limit does vary. Some games are 5 mins. each, 10 mins. each, 30 mins. each....you get the idea. :-)
speed of a game

Now, I have spent maybe 10 minutes actually considering my move, but it took me three days to make it. But this sort of thing is WHY I picked a 3-day game in the first place. If you don't like it, then don't play 3-day games!
Sorry everything is such a problem, yes I finished school, yes I have a job. You don't seem to get my point though. Check my profile I don't play 30 matches at the same time like some other people that's not my style and I have never rushed any one of my opponents into a move, I'm kind to all. I'd like a option to play 10,20,30 minute x2 matches that's my point. Have a good day.
I'm sorry, but I don't understand the point you're trying to make. You said that you don't see why it should take 3 days to make a move. I provided one scenario answering that. I am sure there are many more reasons one could take 3 days - that was just one.
It still comes down to this - if you sign on for a 3-day game, then don't complain if someone takes 3 days to make a move. If you don't like it taking that long, then play the shorter games. As for games running shorter than one day, well, if that's something you want, then put in a request for it. I think it's already in the works, though. In the meantime, maybe starting a game with something in the title to indicate what you're looking for would be appropriate.

OK, then your problems are partly of your own making. I guess you have to weigh up which is more important to you--the speed of the game, or just having the game--and live with the consequences of whichever you choose. You could try declining challenges with 3 or more day move settings, but immediately responding with a challenge on terms you're happier with. That way you'll probably get the game and the terms--at least some of the time.
Good luck.

May I assume that you don't have a job, or go to school?
No reason it should take 3 days to make a move? Well, let's see - I made my last move a 11:30pm and my opponent was already offline. So I go to bed, get up for work the next day, spend 2 hours in crappy traffic driving to the office only to find out that there was a major problem with last night's release. I run around for 13 hours trying to fix it, then face another 2 hour drive home. I'm home late, the kids are in bed, and dinner is cold. I eat what I can while checking my email (to make sure nothing blew up tonight), then fall asleep watching the news.
Next morning I deal with the same crappy commute, but everything went smoothly at work. I have meetings all morning, so I figure I'll check in and make my move at lunch. But in the middle of my last meeting, I get a call from the school and have to head back to take care of my kid's latest screw-up. By the time everything is dealt with and we're all back home, I have a headache and can't focus on the board well enough to tell a pawn from a bishop. Ah, well, I still have one more day.
Next day - busy day at work, but otherwise normal. I get home and finally have a chance to take a look at the board and make my move before dinner.
