I thought about an idea where the better player can't see the lightness and darkness of squares (instead they just see a 8x8 grid of white squares separated by black lines). The worse player could see the colors of the squares. This would probably be done in blitz time controls(though the chance of making mistakes even in correspondence with this format would probably increase). The idea of this would be to slow down strategic thought (for example, it might take longer to place pieces in opposite colors of your opponent's bishops, or it might be easier to make your bishops bad).
How much handicap (in pieces, stockfish evaluation equivalent, or position-wise) would this be worth, if at all? Obviously, if this is done enough, a player could get used to it, so assume it's their first time playing in this format.
