Note that the expected roll-out isn't until June 2020. Considering how long the delay was for the original Square Off, still with plenty of bugs to work out and at least one faulty charge delivered to customers, don't expect this rocket to launch before the end of 2020.

Really dude..... comparing their first launch to the second one is absurd. Stop hating. Everyone got their board and it excelled all expectations

I don't think there will be a long delay like the first one. They have the experience and expertise already. I'm pretty optimistic they can deliver on time. And by the way, I was able to snag the super early bird rate too.

Dear Lord, you people are such cry-babies.

Not really sure what you are referring to here., I am super pleased with my Grand Kingdom set, I use it most days. They have their tech in place already, so I guess they are iterating on the mechanical components to improve them.

Right! They have the manufacturing and distribution all figured out this time around. I do not expect any long delays.... Either way for $99 this is a steal!!!!!!!!!! I am amazed at the price.

Anyone have a guesstimate of how much faster the Swap is than the Neo?  Don't care about the ability to play different games, but Square Off is pushing it as blitz capable.  I know the Neo is already 1.5 times faster than the original board, but the Swap has variable speed and at its' max setting, those pieces seem to be moving  remarkably quickly.  I'd prefer the smaller size of the Neo, but significantly more speed might be worth paying for.  I know, the clock is ticking and I'd probably be happy with either, but I just thought I'd ask what you guys think.   Thanks in advance for any replies...

I recommend that you check the comments section of the Kickstarter page. That question has likely been raised already.

Good advice, chessroboto, thanks.  The comments section was most helpful.  I don't like that the Neo has to be plugged in since the compact design doesn't allow room for a battery and before reading the comments section I figured that a rechargeable battery would just cost extra.  And as to my speed question....

Hi James, at this point we do not have a video for showing the speed difference between the Neo & Swap. Although Neo is fast but Swap is a little faster, and supports blitz chess.

Too bad that the InfiVention people did not specify just how much faster the speeds were which allowed them to qualify it as acceptable for blitz play. I can speculate that the technology has not been finalized yet, so they cannot give any quantitative answers at the time of the Kickstarter offering.

The swap is faster but it is not a measurable comparison yet. Swap also supports the auto reset feature. The neo does not. I am conflicted on which one i want to purchase now lol

For me, I mostly play chess so I'm not interested with Swap. I have the Grand Kingdom set, but its massive and heavy. Neo is very portable and its a steal for $99!

Get a grand kingdome and a neo it's that simple best of both worlds. I have more trouble trying to figure out where I am going to put the next version they come out with. Hopefully a board with 2" or 2 1/4" squares for those of us addicted to this technology. ARE YOU LISTENING Squareoffnow.com🤔

I agree with you! Neo will complement my Grand Kingdom set!

I have the GKS and i already pre ordered the neo, but i am not sure now if i should gift that one to a friend and order the swap or not.. I am very conflicted lol. I like the compact size of the neo, but i love auto reset and the option to play blitz. Also, being able to play without a cord is very nice. Arg. what to do what to do.

Doesn't Neo have a rechargeable batt built-in:?

BaronVonChickenpants

No, I think it's cable only

Dennis_Petersen

I think the swap would be a better option if they were to offer some of the playing surfaces that the Neo will offer. They must have had a good result producing the grand kingdom in black.  The offer of speed chess with the swap will naturally attract serious players but you don't get the same feel as the rosewood grand kingdom.  Seems that Swap is headed to a potentially larger market, although I don't play checkers or the other games that Swap is capable of.  Neo with a built in battery would be more portable.  I think Neo will satisfy the serious chess players though as the price point is hard to resist for an auto sensory surface , and portability is appealing to me now, I always have my grand kingdom plugged in anyway. My GKS is still going to be my favorite, I like the reset and don't mind pressing squares, beeping tones are not an issue with me I am hard of hearing so don't hear anything anyway.  A protective travel case would be a great option for the Neo. I would buy one if they offered it.

how about putting a c port on the Neo and customers could use a portable power brick

Let's hope they go with the usb-c route to power Neo.

Dennis_Petersen

I was kind of thinking leave the power cord on but add a c port so if you didn't have an outlet handy you could power it with a brick, if it needed a special brick they could offer it as an add on for extra cash there by making more money on the product

I am hearing they are considering  USB C ports but don't think it would work bc it requires a 12V supply to power the board

BaronVonChickenpants

Yes, the existing power packs are 12 volt, I had to buy a multi adapter for mine in the UK as was supplied a US style plug
