I DON'T WANT TO PLAY AGAINST THIS PERSON, NOTHING PERSONAL. I ABORTED THE GAME.

I PAY A FORTUNE FOR A DIAMOND MEMBERSHIP, IT IS MY RIGHT TO REJECT AN OPPONENT OCCASIONALLY. I ONLY DO IT ON RARE OCCASIONS.

ELSE REFUND MY MONEY AND CLOSE MY ACCOUNT. IN OTHER CLUBS YOU CAN REJECT AN OPPONENT AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT, AND THEY ARE FREE.

ALSO IT IS SUSPICIOUS THAT SOME 800 RATED PLAYERS PLAY WITHOUT HARDLY EVER MAKING A MISTAKE, VERY WELL STRUCTURED GAMES, MORE LIKE AT LEAST 1200 RATED PLAYERS.

BUT CHESS.COM DOESN'T CARE ABOUT IT. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY!!!

I assume you have seen this before:

https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/articles/1444922

You are allowed to abort games but if you abort too many, you lose the ability to do so and have to resign instead. Aborting on rare occassions won't trigger fair-play so you shouldn't have any problems with that.

If you find the above information unsatisfactory, and still want a refund, please see the TOS/policy on that:

http://www.chess.com/legal#subscriber

Also, to close your account, if you decide to go that route:

As I said, I don't abort too many games at all. Thus I don't know why I lost a game I never played. If I had known I would have played anyway.

Reason is simple - you abuse the system.

You said yourself you abort because you don't want to play a certain player.  That is not allowed.  You play who you are assigned if you are playing a rated game.

I have aborted one game in my 900 or so games and it was because my computer froze, so I never made my first move, and it timed out after 20 seconds.  Actually happened just the other day.  I even had White, so the whole "avoiding Black" thing clearly wouldn't apply.

The occasional abort for reasons like server issues are fine.  Aborting simply because you don't want to face a certain opponent violates the rules, and abuse of it puts you on a list of players where any abort is an automatic forfeit, even if you haven't made a move!

You are considered part of the abuser list clearly based on the game you attached.  It will consider any abort by you now as a resignation!

I suppose the person who wrote before you is a member of staff. Are you too? He said aborting occasionally isn't against the rules. So it is preposterous that I must hear that I abuse the system. So many players have aborted on me. I don't care. Another time I was kicked out by the server and I lost the game. Where is fairness in that?

You spoke like one. I know what it means because I am the administrator of a 600,000 members site

So, posting factual information makes me sound like staff? Interesting.

By the way, all staff actually have an icon next to their names that say STAFF.

It does not matter if Martin is staff or not, he simply linked to the TOS, no impersionation. To cleafy the abortion issue, it is true that you can abort occationaly. There is a counter that count the number of times you abort a game, if the counter reach a given number in a alloted time (a day / week / month (i dont know)) the computer starts assigning losses for aborted games. Once you have waited and the timer have resett you are free to go on aborting games, atleast untill you again reach the abortion threshold again.

abuse is a relative word.  Personally I have aborted 3 games where the opponent hasn't made a single move - then goes on 3 months vacation ... imagine that.  I would appreciate considerate chess players telling me what to do. this type of behavior is - to me, in my opinion - the worst, and truly wish that the admins could help out, please pm me, tqvm,

The aborts being talked about in this topic are for Live chess.

Several games I have never played are showing up under my account. If I didn't know any better, I'd believe there is massive data corruption.

Do you have examples and have you reported them to staff?
