When your only move is one that would put you in check, the game is a draw because, obviously you can't put yourself in check. One of those things called a rule. You might want to go to the "LEARN" option and review the game rules.
Stalemate help?

I'm a total beginner having never played chess till a few months ago. A few games I've played end in stalemate usually when I'm being heavily beaten by an opponent. I played knop121 a few games ago who was far better than me. The only move I could make would leave me in check so he deserved to win? But it said draw?
Sorry if the answer is obvious but could someone explain?
