Must be one of those checker sites that have two sided pieces and they weren't being too careful about which side was up. ;-)

Why is it that in certain chess sites and such, the starting position of the white queen is opposite the black king? And on another sites starting positions (Such as Chess.com), the white queen is opposite the black queen? Is there just different ways to play or...?
