Starting to be interested in chess as an adult and how to reach 2000 blitz?

Well that is the thing... what do you wish to include. If you include only those who have played at least one official game over the board, the average is probably pretty high. For instance, I've never played official over the board game, so I wouldn't even count. happy.png There are even more drastic examples, like Steven (if I remember correctly he said that never played a single official game).

But I believe that the average here is the more correct representation. I think that it only counts those who have played a certain number of games in the last 90 days. So it shouldn't count for instance someone who took up chess in say 2017. played 5 games and never went back, but only those who made some effort in the last 90 days and played enough games to be in this calculation.

You are the most arrogant person I've seen comment around here. I think the actual blitz average would be around 980 or so at least according to the site itself. 50% percentile.

You need to understand that the average person that plays doesn't have the game as their main hobby, stop acting all superior.

Lichess ratings are easier, but not 600.

A week from now I wont remember you even exist.

You are so cool! Hopefully in a week from now I won't cringe from the garbage you post anymore.

I mean you just admitted to having a below average memory so I think you won't have to worry about being bothered.

You want to get 2000 in blitz. It is about NM strength. You need to improve your tactic vision a lot. You need to be an expert in endgames. You need to study openings a lot. I am sure you can do it if you are willing to dedicate your life to it.

NM? I thought 2000 blitz was just more CM or expert chess player.

Maybe weak NMs but there are some in 2000 range.

It's because every federation has a different criteria of giving NM title. But I personally feel national federations should set some pre-requisites in terms of Fide rating/online rating before giving such titles in order to maintain the prestige of this title.

The difference is you try to correct me hoping I'll eventually agree with you, or maybe that you'll "win" the argument.

I couldn't care less about such things. I'm typing comments hoping you'll just shutup.

And people wonder why I leave this place.

Oh, do leave. That sounds lovely.

Avatar of nklristic

No, it seems to me, that would be a shame (for him to leave).

He expressed his opinion a little strong when he used the word morons for people who don't take chess seriously, but I understand his view that you should exclude the most casual players even though I don't completely agree. I think that with chess, like with any other thing there are always people who view it as something to kill some time with, people who would like to live chess 24/7, and those in between. When you want to describe an average chess player, you should probably include all of them.

1. Lessons

2. Puzzles - Daily

3. Drills

4. Opening/Defending(Go through them daily/find your favorites and master those.)

I reviewed one game you played.

I noticed that you need a good opening repertoire. And also wasting time in maneuvering of pieces for tricks and traps is not good in blitz ( somewhat useful in bullet).

Average blitz rating on chess.com counts the innumerable morons who don't know what en passant or stalemate is much less a fork. They're players who play less than 10 games in their whole life. They're players who join and quit in the same day. Counting them when calculating the average is ridiculous. You could practically teach a monkey to play at the 800 level. Don't pretend 800 is average.

How would you calculate the average rating for chess.com?

Look in your profile => stats => global => leaderboard.

For example, the average rating for Daily (correspondance format) is 1105. For Blitz, 885.

Yes, but the person I was replying to thinks that those averages are a joke for some reason.

... because they include people who join, play (and lose) a few games, and then quit.

So I asked him what a better way of calculating the average would be.

I can't believe someone can't even grasp what average means. Holy.

Avatar of nTzT

I don't think you have many or any since you create a new account when you realised how disliked you are.

I am still shocked at how you can't even grasp something as simple as a mathematical average.

900 is a beginner rating my friend, if you want to improve your rating dramatically I suggest solving puzzles everyday.

How many?

If you want to get drunk, you shouldn't count the number of glasses.

Update I am now at 1100 blitz, why do I find it so hard to improve? Will I ever reach my dream goal of 2000+ at this rate?

Hey guys so I am an adult now, I use to play chess when I was a kid however I never committed myself to it. So recently I fell in love with this game, so how can I become an expert chess player in the future? My blitz is currently around the 900's so how can I get that to 2000? Should I invest in some private tutoring from expert players to improve because chess is my life right now. Is 900 an intermediate player or beginner?

We can play training games in rapid. Rating on the website rapid 2000+, blitz rating 2300+. If interested - write in private messages.
P.S. If you want to play stronger, play with a stronger opponent.
