Isn’t chess just an unending series of cheap tricks? Even if you are up 10 points, if you are not paying attention you can lose to an unnoticed mating net, an unstoppable pawn promotion, or draw due to forced repetition or stalemate. All that matters is who won and who lost, not how they won or lost.

Since my starts in chesscom I wrote in my bio "friendly advice don't play napoleon against me". Nevertheless many people try to checkmate me with it, although it work sometimes

i agree but dumb gambits are pretty good in bullet, for example, this gambit is called the alien gambit where black has to be super careful and can end up losing on time pressure. If I played black in this game, i'd probably mange it but it's super risky
in rapid not so much, dumb gambits like the englund can easily be refuted by just developing your pieces and punishing weaknesses

I used to be anti-gambit but I listened to a podcast where a high-level player urged everyone under 1800 to rely on gambits. Gambits force you to learn about tactics and to learn to play when down material.
I should say, there is a difference between a proper gambit and what I would call a "trick." To me, a trick just relies entirely on your opponent screwing up, while a proper gambit gives up some material for longer term advantage.
