Stop Sending Random Friend Requests, Game Invites, Messages, etc.

I'm putting this out there because I believe some of you are that oblivious and need to be informed. Stop sending friend requests to people you have never spoken to. Stop sending game invites to people you have never spoken to. Stop sending weird and creepy messages to... well, everyone. I literally have no idea where these people are coming from or how they even found me. I can only assume they saw me comment in a forum and said, "oh golly! a girl!" I don't freaking know you. Stuzzi sending me a request would be more than someone I did not even know existed. I don't understand the drive behind accumulating friends on a chess website who you don't talk to, don't know, don't play games with, etc.

I've had people send me game requests who are 500 points higher than me, and some who are 500 points lower than me. What are you doing?!?! Stop. Just stop. I'm tired of having to change my settings to blocking all requests because when I actually do become friends with someone and tell them to shoot me a game invite or friend request, they can't. And then I have to go through the process of unlocking everything, instantly getting random invites/requests, and then locking everything back up when the one person I actually know gets through. Rant over.

May I sugest using a fake photo like I do? A fake name helps also. Have a great day. Lou.

I don't think so. I really do believe these people are just ignorant of the annoyance it causes. There might be a few trolls who decide to spam me (which they can't do at this point anyway). But I'm confident at least one guy might get the message. And maybe if there's a serial random adder he/she might explain why they do so. I think the topic about the lack of socializing on here was helpful. This is along those lines for me. These people probably think they're the only ones who do this random contact nonsense. Well, now they know they're not. It's widespread and annoying.

You have two of the same posts, I am going to copy and paste what I said on the other one

Just realized. Not even sure how that happened. If a mod wanted to remove one, that'd be great.

Copying my comment over too, in case mods delete one:

I don't get the creepy messages (except from particularly dense people who assume 'not 100% proven to not be female' = 'female'), but I get random freind requests and game challenges, and it seems to be in proportion to how active I am on the forums. If those are connected to my user pictures, animals/animal people are either considered feminine and they assume I'm female by extension, or we have a lot of furries here.

LadyEncore

I get random friend requests too.

Oh golly! A girl!

I feel for you T. I don't know you, I am an old man. I don't send friend requests, nor do I solicit them. Its like some think this is facebook or something. I think some may just be spammers, some guys believe by pestering a women they may get her to change her mind, even if it couldn't be further from the truth. It is nothing short of harassment.

In the future you can say bye bye to your privacy rights. Companies sale customer info, to other companies, it should be against the law, but it isn't, and they have many loop holes that they can bypass many privacy issues with their customers. If you hit a terms of agreement button that you are forced to do so, to even be able to utilize their service to begin with is but one way.

If you are looking for privacy, the net is not that place. Another poster recommended changing your picture, and use a different name, I would concur, best of luck to you.

In the 3 yrs that I've been here, we've had some infamous threads about females getting harrassed. Sometimes a few of us will step up to the plate.
