Strange clock behavior in Blitz

Yesterday I played several Blitz games and noticed some weird clock behavior. The position was hopeless for me but I had around 25s and my opponent had 5s, so it turned in a game who moves his pieces faster. I am 100% sure that I saw several times as my opponent's clock was counting like 5.0, 4.7, 4.3 then 5.0 again. The opponent moved his pieces very fast and I could see his clock reset back 5.0 several times, while my clock was slowly decrementing. I feel like this is a bug of the software, something wrong with the synchronization. I am playing using Mozilla on Ubuntu 20. Has anybody else seen this issue?

Lag compensation

The idea looks reasonable, but the way it is implemented is definitely incorrect, I regularly see the clock stalled at some 3.0s and even rewind back on the opponent's side for several seconds.

Seems fishy to me

That sounds like short disconnects between you and the server. That can result in larger time changes.
