Strategy when you get thrashed?

If you got thrashed and are clearly loosing I guess the best strategy would be to suicide/immobilize all your remaining pieces and go for the stalemate?

Have a game going in which we both have 7 pawns, but he has lots of officers including the queen and I am down to one horse. I was thinking to resign but I guess there is an itsy-bitsy chance of the stalemate. So I am thinking to suicide all my pieces, including the horse and look for a corner to stuff the king.

Is that the thing to do?

The best strategy is to resign. If you really got as thrashed as you claim you were, it is not very sportsmanlike to keep on going.

Stalemate could be one reason to keep going, but only if you can see the final position where you are in stalemate. Otherwise, you're just prolonging a game you should consider lost and get another chance at a win in a new game.

I agree with the OP here, in addition to stalemate if your opponent runs out of time the game will be a draw.
