Stuck Under 1300 for 16 Years!

well you're probably just not trying to improve, just playing for the sake of it
True actually. I get addicted to bullet, then tilt and complain about it. I'll bounce back eventually. I find that chess requires carefully measured doses. Too much and I get injured, just as a sprinter or football player gets injured. Only it's mental, not physical. At least that's my experience.

Chess requires a balance, a balanced mind of perspective and love.
Negativity is bound to find its way in with any lasting affects proving fatal.

I assume you are an adult improver.
I've written a blog that specifically addresses issues regarding adult improvers:

I hope you might find this helpful.

Chess is a hobby.
It is far more than realized by most while being far less than many imagine it to be.

My rating is always lower the faster the time control. I think this is because I may be relatively strong at the game conceptually while being notably poor when it comes to rapid recall or rapid calculations. I don't know my absolute limits for chess strength, but I know that anyone is able to do only what their nervous system will allow in the moment. While there are many tools to exercise chess skill, using these tools will not have a uniform outcome for every dedicated student.
