Erik mentioned in his TV show (which is available to watch BTW) that they had adjusted the live rating algorithm recently and modest increases could be expected. 150 points sounds like more than he was talking about though. Any chance you've simply gotten better?
Sudden Rating Increase

To me it feels like 1500's have gotten worse, not that I'm earning more points per win. So if everyone had noticed a similar sort of increase that would make sense. If not, they I guess something clicked for me without me noticing

Yes. It has happened to me too. I am suddenly in the high 1300's while i used to be in the high 1200's. I am kind of sad seeing the thread. I honestly thought working tactics had actually made me better. Well, lets keep trying :)

Maybe an influx of new accounts could cause a rating shift. It wouldn't necessarily mean you're playing the new guys though, in fact the opponents I have looked at are also long-term members.
I don't think 3 people agreeing here is quite enough to prove that we haven't miraculously gotten better yet, OldMonkRises. But, as ever skeptical in my own capabilities, we'll see if it lasts.

The OP clearly demonstrates the difference between Brits and Yanks. A Yank would never question a ratings increase.
Nice Rorschach image for an avatar....unless I'm losing vision

Ha! I am secretly suspecting that I've suddenly improved to be honest, astronomer999. Some of the opponents I'm beating now have been at their rating for a while, so that gives me some hope. But I don't think a 150 rating hike in a week is realistic. Probably what will happen is it will come crashing down to normality in a few days, or maybe crashing down to a manageable amount above my normal standard.
Even if it is some other factor than my own skill, some good may come of it. I think a part of increasing your own rating is to have an extra degree of confidence against people you perceive as better than you, here - because of their rating. I always was intimidated by 1500s, but now I have been dispatching them at an alarming rate over the past week, I can use that to my advantage, mentally - maybe.
The image is my face, color-inverted, black-and-whited, and turned upside-down. Not sure why I did that, it was a few years ago, but I remember thinking it looked like a seahorse.

Where is this video available? I was unable to watched it live.
No sudden rating increase here. Hope it doesn't increase, at least to the extent of not reflecting my playing strength on this website.

It's over on the Twitch TV thing. I watched it the next day when it was one of the featured videos. Now you have to search for it which means registering. So you get to Twitch TV by More>Chess.com TV>any of the small video windows. I'd get you a link, but I don't remember my Twitch password.

I dont think theres any rating inflation going on. When I jumped to 1630 I was raging on chess for like 3 days in a row, I probably spent 4 hours on the third day which brought my rating from like 1550 to 1630. Also, according to my standard time rating, I should be in the mid 1500s to 1600s looking at other peoples accounts. This isnt the first time Ive jumped around 100 points either.
Has anyone else recently jumped up about 100 points in live rating at the moment? I don't feel like I'm playing particularly better, but suddenly floating around 1600 instead of my usual 1450.
