Sudden realization the split-second after you move

Does anyone experience this? As soon as you move, bam! The very second after you move you see something that you missed? For me it's often a pawn I hung, or piece I left undefended. And sometimes when I have that flash it's really for no reason, as I find that there is something in the position that means I will be okay.

I am better than Magnus Carlsen at analyzing a position the split-second after I make my move.

Yeah, it's pretty common. After the narration in your head turns off, you naturally look at forcing moves and find something you missed.

In long chess it can also happen in your favor when you walk away from the board and come back and you suddenly see an opportunity because you immediately look at some short forcing sequences.

Oh yes. Sometimes also on daily chess I am pleased with my move and go to another game. Then the pattern of the previous game will still be in my mind and I have an 'oh balls' moment and return to confirm that I have indeed missed something. Bloody addictive, beautiful, infuriating chess!

Jan Hein Donner wrote a brilliant piece about this.

He said "touching is knowing" to describe this phenomena.

Sometimes happens to me but it in the form of not hanging a piece or something but missing a pretty strong move.

Usually happens on blitz.

If you dont want  to have that sudden realization better play bullet, there is no time to realize things.

My balls are so awesome. Don't get me started.
They're so damn big. How big are they?
They're so big. It's really obnoxious.
It's like two ewoks chillin' in my boxers.

My balls are so epic, and I ain't boastin',
But they have an effect on the tides in the ocean.
And when the sun's right, it might cause
A total solar eclipse of my balls.

As a wise man once said, "I hate when that happens."
