At higher levels there is more emphasise in studying openings. At lower levels there is really no need but general knowledge in one or two is just fine.

I play always same openings from 3 years,but i never studied them deeply.
How much important is to know opening knowledge today?
To win today,top players study their openings or (like me)they avoid it and study middlegame,tactics and endings?
