Try adding some saltpeter.
sulphur and iron

The chemical symbol for iron is Fe. The chemical symbol f stands for fluorine. Now playing with that will cause you some discomfort!

listening to your happiness brings me misery. there is no hope of a single, lasting happiness in this life since we are already in hell. my soul is empty. i'm dead to the world.

We all feel sorry for you. Look it at the good side. You can get some pretty interesting lessons by Cabablanca in the chess afterlife.

the fallen leaves are rotting. the whole of nature stinks of disintegration and decay. the earth is dirty. the sea is dirty. the heavens rain slush. we are already in hell.

Gawwd. Off to watch Scottish football to cheer myself up....how desperate is that? Les Miserables is a musical comedy compared with this thread.
Oh, you think this thread is nice! Scottish football is excellent

a peculiar thing happened to me this morning. just as i reached into my pocket to find it empty of any money, i saw two broken twigs on the ground shaped like the greek letters 'f' and 's'. 'f'...and 's'... these are the chemical symbols for iron and sulphur. it was a sign, i'm sure, for me to make gold from these two elements. i have been working all day over these hellish flames. my chapped hands have become poisoned. they are black and bleeding. black, as is my need. bleeding, as is my heart. the agony becomes intolerable.
would make a good short story; maybe develop into a movie

Instead, try finding the Sorcerer's Stone. Before He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named finds it first.
