You apparently are not familiar with the progress made in Low-Energy Nuclear Reactions. In a recent 60 Minutes episode, they hired an independent expert in measurement to test to see whether Energetics out of Israel was getting excess heat. Indeed the were. This scientist was one of the 90% of physicists who doesn't believe in LENR's. After seeing the results from Israel's company, he became a convert.
Here is what hot fusion scientists are not telling Americans. If LENR technology is bogus, the worst that could happen is that a few patents for perpetual motion machines might get patented. If hot fusion scientists are wrong (and they are), it could cost Americans billions of dollars in lost patent royalities. Since France, Italy, Israel, South Korea and Japan all have Government-sponsored programs in LENR techology, it is ironic that we originated the concept but it was derailed by hot fusion scientists who were concerned about their funding.
According to the Emerging Markets Marketing Firm, Inc., 2000, here is a technical report they prepared for the Republican National Committee. Subject: The politics of new-energy technology.
Here are the steps hot fusion scientists took to poison the atmosphere with respect to LENR technology.
"1)A committee visited several laboratories where low-energy nuclear reactions were achieved and declared them all invalid,
2)An agent was obtained at the Office of Patents and Trademarks to ensure than no cold fusion patent applications were approved,
3)All major U.S. technical journals were warned against printing any cold fusion articles. (All but Fusion Technology, the journal of the American Nuclear Society agreed not to publish.),
4)A fund of about $30,000 was provided to Random House to fund a book to destroy the credibility of cold fusion. This book was Bad Science, The Short Life and Weird Times of Cold Fusion, a hatchet job by Gary Taubes (By the way, John O'M Bockris had a lab that was the first to report the presence of nuclear "ash", tritium from his cells. Subsequently hundreds of experiments have confirmed the presence of tritium.Taubes visited the lab and tried to coerce a research scientist to recant or face dire consequences. Bockris considered suing for libel but was told by his attorney that libel suits are difficult to win),
5)An 'official' from Washington, D.C. called all major universities and warned them, 'If you have so much as a graduate student working on cold fusion, you will get no contracts out of Washington.
It would help if you would read the literature before making your comments.
LENR researchers get excess energy, reliably on demand, in a short period of time; they are also getting alpha particles emitted from their apparatus---Mosier-Boss, P.A. Szpak, S. and Gordon, F.E. 2007, "Production of High Energy Particles Using the Pd/D Co Deposition Process," American Physical Society Meeting Session A31: Cold Fusion)
When you try to denigrate a magazine just because it doesn't fit your nice view of the universe, you are in good company. For two decades, Robert Park was the poster child for opposition to cold fusion. Just before he died he said, "It is science."

By the way Sloughter, which coast-to-coast episode were you on?
