By the way Sloughter, which coast-to-coast episode were you on?

Avatar of sloughterchess

You apparently are not familiar with the progress made in Low-Energy Nuclear Reactions. In a recent 60 Minutes episode, they hired an independent expert in measurement to test to see whether Energetics out of Israel was getting excess heat. Indeed the were. This scientist was one of the 90% of physicists who doesn't believe in LENR's. After seeing the results from Israel's company, he became a convert.

Here is what hot fusion scientists are not telling Americans. If LENR technology is bogus, the worst that could happen is that a few patents for perpetual motion machines might get patented. If hot fusion scientists are wrong (and they are), it could cost Americans billions of dollars in lost patent royalities. Since France, Italy, Israel, South Korea and Japan all have Government-sponsored programs in LENR techology, it is ironic that we originated the concept but it was derailed by hot fusion scientists who were concerned about their funding.

According to the Emerging Markets Marketing Firm, Inc., 2000, here is a technical report they prepared for the Republican National Committee. Subject: The politics of new-energy technology.

Here are the steps hot fusion scientists took to poison the atmosphere with respect to LENR technology.

"1)A committee visited several laboratories where low-energy nuclear reactions were achieved and declared them all invalid,

2)An agent was obtained at the Office of Patents and Trademarks to ensure than no cold fusion patent applications were approved,

3)All major U.S. technical journals were warned against printing any cold fusion articles. (All but Fusion Technology, the journal of the American Nuclear Society agreed not to publish.),

4)A fund of about $30,000 was provided to Random House to fund a book to destroy the credibility of cold fusion. This book was Bad Science, The Short Life and Weird Times of Cold Fusion, a hatchet job by Gary Taubes (By the way, John O'M Bockris had a lab that was the first to report the presence of nuclear "ash", tritium from his cells. Subsequently hundreds of experiments have confirmed the presence of tritium.Taubes visited the lab and tried to coerce a research scientist to recant or face dire consequences. Bockris considered suing for libel but was told by his attorney that libel suits are difficult to win),

5)An 'official' from Washington, D.C. called all major universities and warned them, 'If you have so much as a graduate student working on cold fusion, you will get no contracts out of Washington.

It would help if you would read the literature before making your comments.

LENR researchers get excess energy, reliably on demand, in a short period of time; they are also getting alpha particles emitted from their apparatus---Mosier-Boss, P.A. Szpak, S. and Gordon, F.E. 2007, "Production of High Energy Particles Using the Pd/D Co Deposition Process," American Physical Society Meeting Session A31: Cold Fusion)

When you try to denigrate a magazine just because it doesn't fit your nice view of the universe, you are in good company. For two decades, Robert Park was the poster child for opposition to cold fusion. Just before he died he said, "It is science."

Since you are clearly the expert on nuclear fusion, please explain how low-energy nuclear reactions are possible. I will be waiting for a reply.

Wait!  Wait!  First tell us about all those perpetual motion machines the government is suppressing!

Not the government.  It's the oil companies.  They are also supressing carbeurator technology that allows cars upwards of 100 miles a gallon.

Meh. The first two messages I decoded were "Obey your parents" and "Stay tuned for more messages."

It isn't the theory of cold fusion that matters---there are plenty of theories. There are thousands of experiments that confirm the results. When it comes to physicists, as my brother would say, "My mind is made up; don't confuse me with the facts!"

What matters is that you have MIT physicists who actively suppressed both cold fusion research and the Integral Fast Reactor technology to guarantee funding for their hot fusion program.

If you read the literature, you would find that in the early days of testing the Pons-Fleischmann cold fusion cells, MIT physicists changed the experimental design AFTER the cold fusion experiments were run. The experiments were designed to test for "excess heat" which was found and reported in the preliminary report to the Department Of Energy. Then in the final report, they reported to DOE that they were testing, "For the sudden onset of heat". This permitted them to go to DOE and claim a null result, hence no need for Federal monies to study the process. The actions of these MIT physicists so thoroughly disgusted Eugene Mallove that he quit his good job as Science Editor at MIT and set up Infinite Energy Magazine. Tragically, he was murdered a few years ago before he could complete his work.

Senator John Kerry (D, MA) in 1994 actively tried to shut down funding for the Integral Fast Reactor (Just check out Wikipedia---Integral Fast Reactor) to protect his constituents at MIT who stood to lose hundreds of millions of dollars in hot fusion research dollars. The IFR would have competed directly with the hot fusion program for base-load power rendering hot fusion research superfluous. Kerry's ostensible reason was to prevent a threat to non-proliferation, when the experts said it would do just the opposite. Out of 100 Senators, only Senator Kerry found it necessary to shut down the program. By some strange coincidence, his constituents were the primary beneficiaries of his opposition to the IFR. No doubt, they, like the tobacco lobby, could twist the truth to their needs---at the expense of our national security.

Plot on the x-axis, the past 40 years. On the y-axis plot the percent of our dependence on foreign oil over those years. Also plot on the y-axis in billions of dollars the amount of money spent on hot fusion research. Also on the y-axis, plot the amount of money that has gone into alternative energy technologies exclusive of hot fusion.

And you wonder why we are dependent on foreign oil? When you shut down a program like the IFR which could have broken ground by now if the technology had been pursued aggressively and focus on the boondoggle of hot fusion, a technology that is always just "40 years" from now, whenever now is, no wonder we are so dependent on foreign oil!

No, I didn't bring that up in any of my posts.  How about it, gang, anyone mention anything about foreign oil in this thread?

Avatar of goldendog

I thought about foreign oil, so that's eerie, I think. What does a black helicopter sound like again?

I almost forgot about the black choppers!

If a silent black helicopter flies over the woods and there's no wacko conspiracy believer standing there to not hear it, does it make a sound? Cool

I think sloughter is trying to present the same faulty ideas he presented on physicsforums (starting on page seven), only to what he hopes will be a more ignorant demographic.

I went to the woods to ask the aliens for the answer, but I found Bigfoot instead.  I asked Sasquatch and he thought he heard a black chopper in the woods.  It sounded something like a Huey.  He had to leave though because the Men in Black were looking for him.  I was later shot at by assasins hired by the foreign oil companies to suppress my campaign for cold fusion during my escape from the CIA agents.

Wait, I hear someone at my door.  My position has been compromised and the government has triangulated my position.  I must go AWOL for a month.

Since this is a site devoted to supranormal conduct, it is time to dust off the resume. Here is a list of my accomplishments in chess. Most of these innovations are on this thread; the remainder are in various places in the literature for those who seek to find them. Name one World Champion, one Grandmaster or any theoretician who has done a fraction as much. I did it as 1600 OTB and Postal 1600 player:

1)Wrote a critically acclaimed book on the Evans Gambit where I presented dozens of playable Novelties,

2)Cooked the Berliner Gambit which was played and promoted by World Champion Dr. Hans Berliner for decades and endorsed by World Champion Garry Kasparov in BCO 2,

3)Cooked the Fritz on this thread, studied and played by Correspondence World Champion Yakov Estrin,

4)Promoted a new main line of the 4.Ng5 Two Knights' Defense discussed in another thead on chess.com.

5)Presented several early playable novelties in the Lolli Gambit of the Two Knights' Defense, one of the oldest openings in all of chess,

6)Came up with a playable opening on move 3 in the King's Gambit Accepted, perhaps the first in centuries and endorsed by World Champion Garry Kasparov,

7)Discovered and played a Gambit in the Petroff, perhaps the first in centuries named after me and appearing in both Inside Chess and Chess Life. It contains an endgame only seen once before and then only played by World Champion Capablanca,

8)Perhaps cooked the Latvian Gambit as recognized by ICM John Elburg, one of the leading practitioners in the gambit,

9)Came up with the earliest novelties in the Alekhine Defense possible, studied and approved by GM Lev Alburt, one of the world's leading experts and practitioners of the Alekhine Defense,

10)Discovered and played a novelty in the Modern on move 5 that I used successfully to defeat a postal master in 16 moves. This was published in Chess Life,

11)Came up with the earliest playable innovation in the 4.Ng5 Two Knights' Defense on move 6 perhaps earliest in decades, if not centuries. This was published in Chess Life,

12)Cooked the Wilkes-Barre/Traxler one of the sharpest openings  in all of chess and used my innovation to defeat Fritz 8 in forty moves. This is comparable to a class B player beating a young Anand,

13)Organized, presented and played an entirely new opening system called the Universal Attack which I have used successfully against Postal Experts and A players. I have presented perhaps dozens of novelties in this system prior to move 10,

14)Played, arguably, the best odds game ever.

I have developed new theories of space in chess. There are five kinds of space in chess:

A) Interior space = the region behind your pawn wall inaccessible to enemy forces,

B) Exterior space = the region ahead of your pawn wall inaccessible to enemy troups,

C)Controlled space = space behind your pawns that cannot be accessed,

D)Uncontrolled space = overextended pawns,

E)Future space = the unstoppable ability of certain pawns to advance and carve out more interior space.

I have redefined time in chess. Not only is time the movement of pieces away from their original squares, I have also defined time as the acquisition of controlled space.

I have redefined development. Perhaps I am the first player to suggest that in the move sequence 1.e4, 2.Nf3, 3.Bc4, 4.Ng5 White has made four useful developing moves in a row. That is why the Two Knights' Defense is so tough for Black. He is gambitting a pawn against an opponent who has not wasted a single tempo in the opening and who successfully attacks the weakest square in the Black camp, f7, on move 4.

Developing moves can also be thought of as accessing squares in two moves that cannot be accessed in one move, hence Qe2/Qf3 only gains one tempo. Qe2/Qe3 gains two tempos because White cannot access the e3 square in less that two moves.

I have codified, described and organized Universal positions as used commonly by Grandmasters.

This would be an impressive resume by a World Champion, but it has been done by a Class B player. If this isn't supranormal behavior, what is it?
