Hey all! As part of my prep for an upcoming tournament (shout out to the ECF's Devon Chess Congress) I've been doing some games in different openings against Stockfish to shore up my theory... Today I tried to last in the Queen's Gambit - and we had an interesting Catalan! I, naturally, was no match for the machine, but I am reasonably happy that until move 18 we were dead even, and that it wasn't until move 30 that it went beyond +2.

Here's the game!

Well in my opinion that was a valiant effort against stock fish. I looked at the game at the end of the 17th move. To me it looked like you had the better position. As your attacking lines seemed straight forward toward the opposing King. White was directed more toward the corner you casteld away from.

Unfortunately all stockfish needs is one inaccuracy! I liked my position too - but the Catalan is tricky enough to make winning for black anyway, let alone against the bot...

I'm surprised that Stock Fish messed up at some points.

Well it's browser-based stockfish, so not the strongest iteration of it...
