is it my imagination or is there a lot of hostility towards Susan Polgar?

I imagine there is since she and her husband tried to sue the uscf for millions of dollars, which would destroy the uscf if they won most likely.

i seem to remember that Bobby Fischer was accused of being more interested in money, long time ago in Iceland just before he was world champion. am i correct? would be during the sixties i think.

"If money is the issue, then here it is. Come out chicken," said Slater (my paraphrase but close) to Fischer when he doubled the Reykjavik prize fund in 1972.

Still, the lot of chess pros needed Fischer to get the monetary status they deserved. Fischer's motives? Maybe he was only about Fischer but the rising tide lifted all the boats.

Perhaps there is a silver lining if the lawsuit bankrupts the USCF. A new leaner federation (ala PCA) might emerge in the United States which is free from controversy and "old boys" networks.

About as well as a few stray ghosts roaming a civil war battlefield.

I don't have the strongest recollection of why the PCA failed. I think that despite having Kasparov and Short, the lesser ranked players were complaining about how the money wasn't getting to them.Hard to succeed as an organization with just the elite thriving. Correct me if I have the story wrong.
