Swearing at someone in chat

Disable chat and block the offender. You can't controll what others do to you. For example, one day a playerblundered a Queen against me in Live, called me "lucky bastard" and did not make a move, waiting for his clock (which had over 5 minutes) to run out of time. The advice I was given was to block the Troll, so block him and you won't have to stand his nonesenses again.
Only 5 minutes? I've had to wait 35 or more on several occasions! Usually they don't say anything though, they just sit and wait 30-60 minutes for their time to run out instead of resigning
never happened to me, but srsly?

is this acceptable? Is this controlled by anyone?
I got ***************** swearing at me. I remember it was something about "f*** piece of shit"... and then he disabled chat. I am confused...do not know what to think about that....should I laugh? I just wanted to know is it common here?
You can not type what you typed in live chat. You are the curser. You are the offender. Live would have blocked what you typed.
I am not sure what you are trying to prove, your reply has got nothing to do with a problem I had faced...

This is one of the most common & Popular complaints on chess.com. Actually it makes me laugh, if thats the most dangerous or worst thing you have to face in life you are lucky.
When I joined the military I never knew any good swear words, but wow, did that change. Every other word out of some people's mouths is a curse word. Like I said bullets and phosphorus grenades burn and kill, but cursing you hear it all the time on the big screen. The trick is not to start doing it your self, it lowers you to being a jerk as well. But thats easier said then done if you hear it every day! It comes so natural for some people they do not even know they are doing it.

^ what he is saying is that if someone tried to say that to you,it wouldn't show up as the censors would catch it, and it would disable their chat.
:) RoseQueen1985...I didn't say I do not understand what he was trying to say but I do not understand what he was trying to prove. My post was about swearing someone in the chat - not about how he phrased it and if it let it show on the site or not but the fact that he did it and if that kind of behaviour is acceptable.
And him saying something like: You can not type what you typed in live chat. You are the curser. You are the offender. Live would have blocked what you typed. is not even related to my topic. He has just started analyzing how it was written but didn't take anything else under consideration. Calling me an offender cause I asked the question giving example of how soemone was swearing at me in the chat? Something is not quite right there... what do you think?
You said as well..."...and it would disable their chat. I didn't know that, I thought as soon as he send me that phrase (I remembered a half of it) he disabled the chat so I won't be able to react. I did't know it was the censor. As I say...I am still learning :)

I think you missed the fact that it was someone swearing at me not other way around. I also think you put too much attention by analyzing how something was written not about the fact that it happened.

This whole thing is overrated. Who cares if some one swears at you in live chess? I don't mind it much.
BTW I also think the whole "swearing is evil" thing is overrated as well.

I think you meant to say "cussing is an indication of lack of education." But I don't completely agree with that statement, either. To clarify: When I was in the Navy, my captain ordered my division officer to report on the status of the back-up power supply for the Dimension 2000 phone system. The problem was the two 10-farad capacitors (about the size of a beer can and with enough power to blow your arm off) had somehow shorted--it looked like someone had set off a hand grenade in the system. When my DivO asked me for details, I told him, "I can give you the details, or sum it up in four words." My DivO, who didn't like the technical explanation, said, "Give me the short version." I said, "OK, tell the captain this--the f-ing f-er's f-ed." He said, "I can't say that to the captain." I said, "Tell him--it's the truth." Well, he did, and the captain sent back this reply: "I admire your eloquence." But, later, I had to supply him with the technical details. Sometimes, cussing is the only way to communicate exactly what it is you are trying to say.

Yaa, Leave it to the Navy, they got the monopoly on the cussing words, we in the Air Force try to keep our act clean! lololo

I understand; I seem to recall reading something along the same lines, but I've never agreed with it. It's just that I feel that "To everything, there is a season" relates to language, as well.

You wouldn't be jealous now, would you? But I could never had said that to my first CO--he would have had me keel-hauled!
