Today when I beat someone at live chess they swore at me does no one care for good sportsmanship anymore?

Just disable the chat in live chess when you are playing a game.

Not too many.

Then again, I am not so sure that many people cared in the past either.

Good point.

I only bark in live chess. Woof!

I had an opponent (king...d) saying to me "you'd learn better if you moved yourself rather than using a computer". Usually I play on an iphone without even looking at the chat part so hadn't even noticed the comment until I was on the PC so not even sure at what point in the game the comment was made. I wasn't using a computer but then just resigned the game on point of principal but I think when players use comments like that or behave childishly it says it all about them. Not been using the site for long but I'd hope you are able to block players if I can find out how.

I guess not a lot of people care about good sportsmanship. Perhaps your opponent's strategy failed and they got angry.

zys2; trash talking in live chess may be the behaviour of those who struggle to sense the distinction between being good & good at

Is it ok to swear not at the opponent but just in general, for example when you've blundered? How much material is each swear word worth?

Regretably, I have set my default to "Disable Chat" for some of these same reasons.

Avatar of Tatiana92

i agree, i always  "disable chat' so you can avoid people swearing

Real men swear all the time.....at least I do (usually in the correct company). I think the "chat swear reducer" thing is funny. I typed a swear word once and was like banned from chat for 30 minutes LOL.

Real men are considerate of social boundaries, regardless of personal views of swearing.

I'm friendly but I like playing rude ppl, nothing they say phases me, I just see it as banter. I like seeing if I can get them really angry and it so much more satisfying beating them. And no matter what I say I'm always guilt free.

i only swear when playing against the computer. I still get kicked for it tough.

I consider the current social boundaries of online swearing to be a steaming load of crap.
